Jardin des lézards

Jardin des Lézards is a 12-square-meter greenhouse I built in my garden, designed to recreate the unique habitats of the Mediterranean region. Here, I keep several species of lizards that naturally occur around the Mediterranean Sea, including Eumeces schneideri, Pseudopus apodus, Laudakia stellio brachydactyla, and Timon lepidus.

To mirror their natural environment, the greenhouse is also home to a diverse collection of cacti and succulents, much like those displayed in botanical gardens. This living collection allows me to combine animal husbandry with horticulture, creating a balanced miniature ecosystem where plants and reptiles thrive side by side.

Jardin des Lézards is also an exciting experiment in herpetoculture, showing how reptiles can be kept in a more natural and spacious way within a mixed-species environment. It offers insights into how we might rethink reptile keeping, making it both enriching for the animals and more engaging for the observer.
